Website Terms of Service

Effective date: August 26, 2026

Last updated: August 26, 2026’

Website: www.petparenttherapist.com

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of www.petparenttherapist.com (the “Site”), which is owned and operated by The Pet Parent Therapist Counselling Inc. (“The Pet Parent Therapist,” “I,” “me,” or “my”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Website Privacy Policy, together with any additional terms that may apply to particular services, programs, resources, or offerings.

If you do not agree with these Terms of Service, please do not use the Site. These Terms of Service may be updated from time to time. The current version will be posted on the Site, and continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Website Content Is for General Information

The Site may include articles, newsletters, educational materials, resources, information about the human-animal bond, pet parenthood, grief and loss, counselling, support groups, and other related topics. Unless expressly stated otherwise, this content is provided for general informational and educational purposes only.

Website content is not individualized counselling, psychotherapy, medical care, veterinary care, legal advice, or another form of professional advice. It should not be used as a substitute for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, or advice from an appropriately qualified professional who is familiar with your individual circumstances.

3. No Therapist-Client Relationship Through Website Use

Accessing or using the Site, reading or subscribing to the newsletter, downloading or using a resource, submitting a contact form, sending an email, booking a complimentary consultation, or registering for a support group does not, by itself, create a therapist-client relationship with The Pet Parent Therapist Counselling Inc. or Britta Jensen.

A counselling relationship is established only after the parties have expressly agreed to begin counselling services and any required intake, informed consent, eligibility, and administrative processes have been completed.

4. Counselling Services

Information about counselling services on the Site is provided so that prospective clients can learn about the practice and determine whether they wish to inquire further. Availability, suitability, fees, policies, and the terms governing counselling services may change and will be addressed separately as part of the counselling intake and informed consent process.

Nothing on the Site guarantees that counselling services will be available or appropriate for a particular person, concern, location, or circumstance.

5. Complimentary Consultations and Online Booking

The Site may allow you to book a complimentary consultation through an embedded or linked scheduling service, including Jane. A consultation is an opportunity to discuss your needs, ask questions, and consider whether the practice may be an appropriate fit. A consultation is not counselling or crisis care and does not guarantee acceptance as a client.

Third-party scheduling services are subject to their own terms and privacy practices. Please review the Website Privacy Policy for more information about third-party services.

6. Support Groups

The Pet Parent Therapist Counselling Inc. may offer complimentary or paid support groups, including pet loss support groups. Group descriptions, eligibility criteria, dates, participation expectations, and any additional terms will be provided in connection with the particular group.

Registering for or participating in a support group does not necessarily establish an individual therapist-client relationship. Support groups are not a substitute for individual mental health treatment, medical care, or emergency services.

Participants are expected to respect the privacy of other group members. However, because group participation involves other individuals, I cannot guarantee that another participant will maintain confidentiality. Any specific confidentiality expectations or group agreements will be explained before or at the beginning of the group.

7. Newsletter and Other Communications

You may voluntarily subscribe to receive updates about services, resources, support for pet parents, related offerings and programs, educational content, events, and other information from The Pet Parent Therapist Counselling Inc. The newsletter is currently delivered through Substack.

Newsletter content is general information and does not constitute individualized counselling or professional advice. You may unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link provided in newsletter communications.

8. Resources, Recommendations, and Affiliate Links

The Site may provide links to books, products, services, organizations, professionals, websites, and other resources that may be of interest to pet parents. These resources are provided for convenience and general information.

Some links may be affiliate links. If you purchase a product or service or take another qualifying action through an affiliate link, The Pet Parent Therapist Counselling Inc. may receive a commission or other compensation at no additional cost to you.

The inclusion of a resource, product, service, professional, or organization does not constitute a guarantee that it is suitable for you or an endorsement of every statement, practice, product, or service offered by that third party. You remain responsible for evaluating whether a resource is appropriate for your circumstances.

9. Third-Party Websites and Services

The Site may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites and services, including Jane, Substack, Google Forms, affiliate partners, and other external resources. I do not control third-party websites or services and am not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, products, services, or terms.

Your interactions or transactions with a third party are between you and that third party and may be governed by separate terms and privacy policies.

10. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise indicated, the Site and its original content, including text, articles, graphics, branding, downloadable materials, worksheets, photographs, videos, and other materials created by or for The Pet Parent Therapist Counselling Inc., are owned by or licensed to The Pet Parent Therapist Counselling Inc. and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may access and use Site content for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. Unless you have prior written permission, you may not copy, reproduce, republish, sell, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, commercially exploit, or represent Site content as your own.

You may share links to publicly available pages on the Site provided that you do not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation that does not exist.

11. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the Site or interfere with its operation. Without limiting the foregoing, you must not:

• attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its systems, accounts, or networks;

• introduce malicious code, viruses, or other harmful technology;

• use automated means to scrape, harvest, or systematically extract Site content or personal information without authorization;

• impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation;

• use the Site for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, harassing, or infringing purposes; or

• use Site content in a way that infringes intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights.

12. No Guarantees

I aim to provide thoughtful and accurate information, but I do not guarantee that Site content will be complete, current, error-free, or appropriate for every person or situation. Information about services, resources, events, programs, availability, fees, or other offerings may change.

No particular personal, therapeutic, emotional, educational, or other outcome is promised or guaranteed from using the Site, reading its content, subscribing to the newsletter, accessing a resource, or participating in a non-counselling offering.

13. Emergencies and Crisis Situations

The Site, contact forms, email, newsletter, complimentary consultations, and support-group registration channels are not emergency or crisis services and are not monitored continuously.

If you believe that you or another person is in immediate danger, contact emergency services or go to the nearest emergency department. If you require urgent mental health or crisis support, please contact an appropriate crisis service in your location.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Pet Parent Therapist Counselling Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and representatives will not be liable for losses or damages arising from or related to your use of, inability to use, or reliance on the Site or its general informational content, or from third-party websites, resources, products, or services linked from the Site.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, or to limit any rights or remedies you may have under applicable consumer protection or other mandatory laws.

15. Privacy

Personal information collected through the Site and related online communications is handled as described in the Website Privacy Policy. Please review that policy for information about website forms, newsletter subscriptions, support-group registration, cookies and analytics, third-party services, and your privacy choices.

16. Availability and Changes to the Site

I may modify, suspend, discontinue, remove, or restrict access to any part of the Site or any website content, resource, feature, or offering at any time. I do not guarantee that the Site or any particular feature will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

17. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in British Columbia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Subject to any rights you may have under applicable law, disputes relating to these Terms or use of the Site will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect to the extent permitted by law.
