I am a registered counsellor with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association and the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists and currently hold the designations of Master Practitioner of Clinical Counselling – Provisional (MPCC-P) and Registered Therapeutic  Counsellor - Candidate (RTCc).

I came to counselling after practicing law for more than 15 years.  As I navigated serious illness, caregiving, and loss with my own animals, I found it difficult to find support that understood how complicated these experiences can be. So I left my legal career to build a counselling practice focused on pet parents, offering the kind of support I wish I had.

Outside of my counselling work, I share my life with my husband and our band of pets, which more often than not includes a few extra furry faces through my work as a foster home for the BC SPCA.

Advocacy for animals has long been a central part of my life, and I previously co-chaired the Animal Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association, BC Branch, and currently sit on the BC SPCA's Lower Mainland Regional Council.

I support pet parents through the challenges and loss that can come with loving an animal.

Ethos

I believe the  relationships we have with animals deserve to be understood with the same care and attention as the other important relationships in our lives. Loving and caring for an animal can shape how  we feel, how we live, and how we understand ourselves.

I am also a certified spiritually informed therapist and welcome clients who wish to explore questions of meaning, purpose, spirituality, and connection as part of the therapeutic process.

Approach

My approach to therapy is integrative and grounded in an understanding of the human animal bond. Sessions are collaborative and shaped by your pace, your needs, and what feels  most supportive to you. Some of the therapeutic approaches and frameworks I draw from  include:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Attachment Theory

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

If you’re interested in working with me, you can book a free discovery call to ask questions, learn  a little more about the process, and see if it feels like the right fit.
